Notes From the Last Meeting
Our last meeting was inspirational. More than 25 members came to show support and offer help. The momentum from the Illinois Govenor's decision to impose a moratorium on executions in that state cannot be underestimated. President Clinton is now looking into the possibility of a moratorium on federal use of the death penalty. The Moratorium Bill
Assembly bill # A1853 has been introduced by Assemblyman Alfred Steele (D) in NJ. This death penalty moratorium bill seeks to halt executions for a two year period while a committee appointed by the Governor studies the issue. We have been told the bill will be heard in early March. We must act now to insure that the judiciary committee votes to support this bill. We only have a few weeks to accomplish a great deal!Arts & Humanities (26)Blogs (18)Business & Economy (40)Computers & Internet (68) | Education (34)Entertainment (34)Health (48)News & Media (33) | Recreation & Sports (25)Reference (34)Science and Technology (31)Shopping (38) | Society (23) |
